One of the great summer movies I’m looking forward to. Hilarious trailer!
Protesters hurled petrol bombs and paving slabs at police in a three-hour battle to recapture Independence Square, where former hotels have become makeshift mortuaries.
Just hours earlier President Viktor Yanukovych had agreed a truce with opposition leaders ‘with the aim of ending bloodshed’.
But after the Ukrainian leader met an EU delegation of German, Polish and French foreign ministers to discuss a ‘road map’ to peace, demonstrators held police captive in Kiev’s occupied city hall.
A Downing street spokesman said: ‘The Prime Minister agreed with President Putin that they should both encourage all sides in Ukraine to get behind this emerging plan as a way to end the violence and open the way to a lasting peaceful solution.’
As the carnage intensified yesterday, footage on Ukrainian television showed protesters being cut down by gunfire amid the burning wreckage of the city’s streets.
At least 21 bodies were counted on the edge of the smouldering protest encampment in central Kiev and one policeman had been shot 28 times, according to reports.
Dozens of bullet-riddled bodies were seen by reporters laid out in white sheets on the marble floors of hotels around Independence Square, known as Maidan.
As support for President Yanukovych began to crumble, there were reports of his family and top officials leaving the country with suitcases of cash.
There were varying estimates of the death toll yesterday. But Dr Oleh Musiy, the top medical coordinator for the opposition, said at least 70 demonstrators were killed and more than 500 injured.
It was reported that 28 were killed and more than 500 wounded in fighting earlier this week.
Four gunmen on Thursday, February 20, 2014 abducted an alleged serial fraudster and suspect in two cases being handled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The suspect, Princewill Arinze Nwobodo (alias Aboki J. Brown) was abducted by the gunmen within the precincts of the Lagos High Court, Igbosere where he was to be arraigned before Justice Aishat Opesanwo on a 4-count charge bordering on obtaining $ 92,000(Ninety-Two Thousand United States Dollar) under false pretence. The arraignment was deferred to March 27, 2014 as the court did not sit.
Nwobodo had previously been arraigned in two separate courts in Lagos on fraud related charges. He was docked on October 25, 2013 before Justice Saliu Seidu of the Federal High Court, Lagos on a 15- count charge bordering on forgery and obtaining under false pretence. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail. His inability to meet the bail conditions consigned him to prison custody till Thursday, February 20.
In the second court, he was arraigned on November 20, 2013 before Justice Aishat Opesanwo alongside Katchy Okoye and Matthew Usong on a 12-count charge that borders on conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretence. They were granted bail but could not meet the bail terms.
Nwobodo was brought to court on Thursday from Ikoyi Prison, Lagos. He was snatched by the gunmen from the Prison Warders who brought him to court.
Just as his plane landed at the Lagos International airport from his trip to Niger Republic , after attending an ECOWAS meeting, the Nigerian State Security Services detained him and seized his passport.
Granting an exclusive interview to Sahara Reporters, he claims that the charges levied against him were “funny and ridiculous”.
There is definitely more to this than it meets the eye.
UPDATE
Members of the House of Representatives have rejected the suspension of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Governor, Mr Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
President Jonathan has nominated Zenith Bank MD Godwin Emefiele as the next CBN Governor, and Adelabu Adekoya, an executive director at First Bank, as the deputy.
I just hope this doesn’t become a trend where ladies first get engaged, then gets pregnant before tying the knot. First it was Kim Kardashian, then Ciara and now Xtina.
Christina Aguilera, 33, and recently engaged boyfriend Matthew Rutler, 29, are expecting their first child.
They met on the set of her 2010 film “Burlesque” and have dated for nearly three years.
Aguilera’s soon-to-be mother-in-law reportedly let the news slip that she was going to be a grandma.
“I don’t know what their plans are,” Rutler’s mom, Kathleen, told In Touch Weekly when asked if she thought Christina and Matt might be moving to the East Coast. “But when you have a baby, you’re not planning on moving anywhere anytime soon!”
So far, there has been no word from Christina’s camp about the news.
The 22 years old Miss Turismo 2013, Génesis Carmona, was shot in the head in the city of Valencia Tuesday. She died on Wednesday afternoon, marking the fifth fatality during the country’s ongoing political turmoil. Unidentified gunman opened fire at anti-government protesters in Valencia.
She was just a few months from completing her marketing degree.
The death of Carmona comes just over a month after a former Miss Venezuela, Monica Spear, was murdered together with her British husband in the street.
It also comes as Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez waits to learn if he will be charged for violence that has erupted during protests that have revitalized challenges to 15 years of socialist rule in the oil-rich nation.
Lopez was due to appear before a judge in a closed hearing a day after dramatically surrendering to authorities before thousands of cheering supporters Tuesday.
He was expected to learn what charges he would face for organizing mass demonstrations that have resulted in at least six deaths and more than 100 injuries over the past week.
The government of President Nicolas Maduro has accused Lopez, a 42-year-old former mayor and the leader of the Popular Will party, of attempting to foment a coup in the South American nation and authorities had said he could face charges that include homicide and causing grievous bodily harm.
A judicial official told The Associated Press that prosecutors were leaning toward discarding homicide and terrorism charges, opting instead to pursue less serious counts such as arson and incitement to commit crimes.
May her soul rest in peace.
Famous artist and celebrities were given a digital makeunder and what came out were very funny pics of what they would look life if they had not found fame.
The design team created some concept images using existing pictures of celebrities showing what they may look like if they lived in the mundane world and the results are hilarious and ridiculous in equal measure.
Which one of these is your best makeunder?

“The Federal Government of Nigeria reassures all stakeholders in Nigeria’s financial and monetary system that this decision has been taken in absolute good faith, in the overall interest of the Nigerian economy and in accordance with our laws and due process.”
Well, I kinda, sorta predicted that.
How dare they cast a Barack Obama look-alike as Satan. How dare they. 😉
To avoid another controversy about the character of Satan bearing a physical resemblance to President Obama in the upcoming religious film, the filmmakers have gone out of their way to edit the devil’s scenes out of “Son of God,” which is based on the TV miniseries “The Bible.”
“It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the devil is on the cutting-room floor,” producer Roma Downey told the Hollywood Reporter. “This is now a movie about Jesus, the son of God, and the devil gets no more screen time.”
Hopefully we can now all focus on the movie and its story line.
After Birdman went online claiming Kimora Lee Simmons is the ‘love of his life’, ex husband Russell Simmons revealed on twitter that she has in fact secretly married investment banker Yim Leissner.

She also has a son, Kenzo Lee Hounsou, with Djimon.
Congrats Kimora!
